ESPINAS (Thorns) is an historical novel about the exciting life of Fr. Antonio Margil de Jesus, called the Apostle of America and known as a great promoter of humanism.
Set in the Spain and the New Spain of the seventeenth century, the narration carry us on the Franciscan missionary journeys, from the picturesque towns of Valencia, Toledo and Sevilla in Spain to the attacked by pirates port of Veracruz, Mexico, and from the virgin forests of Costa Rica to the bison populated plains in Texas. An adventure of more than six thousand miles walking barefoot, evangelizing over 80,000 Indians, founding numerous missions and putting his own life at risk many times.
